Bob Barth

Belleville, IL

A retired 40 year law enforcement veteran, Bob served as a member of the St Louis Metropolitan Major Case Squad as well as a detective for the Fairview Heights police Department. He is a man whose law enforcement stories are second only to his softball tales. He began his playing career in 1974 and after a few years dominating the local recreational leagues was asked to play with such formidable teams as the St Clair Park Ground Crew, St Clair Park Cardinals, Collinsville Locker Room and Miller Genuine Draft. Bob learned to play the game the “right” way from an early age pairing with his mentor, the late, great Dirk Androff as his hitting partner. In addition to scores of local tournament championships, Bob was a member of the AA State Champion St Clair Park Ground Crew in 1986 as well as the Collinsville Locker Room Indoor World Champions in 1991. After taking some time off after being shot in the line of duty and working on his Masters Degree at SIU-Edwardsville, Bob returned to the game in 2002 to play with his son, Blaine (one of the elite players in the St Louis Metropolitan area.) One might have thought having his right knee replaced in 2006 would have brought Bob’s career to an end, but he returned to the Senior Circuit in 2008 with 50 Caliber and helped lead the team to a SSUSA Major National Championship in 2014 followed by an ISSA Major Plus World Championship in 2015.
