Derek Billups is the NSA Senior Softball Director, and former member of the St Louis City police force. Derek has been around the slow-pitch game for 34 years as a player, coach, umpire and administrator. Derek served as assistant Missouri Director of slow-pitch softball in 2017 and was quickly promoted to State Director the following year. He earned the honor of NSA Director of the year in 2020 and was appointed to become the National Director of Senior Softball by NSA. For the past three seasons, Derek has served as Tournament Director for scores of local and national tournaments including the NSA Senior Super World Series hosted annually in the St Louis area, as well as the Mike “Ludy” McVey Memorial tournament in Highland, Illinois. Tonight, Derek will be receiving the Mike “Ludy” McVey Award given annually to the individual who best epitomizes dedication and service to the game of slow-pitch softball in the St Louis Metropolitan Area.
